Harsher ride.
Depending on the shock, you might also have problems maintaining the contact patch as well (tires will skitter across bumpy pavement). Don't be tempted to tighten up the ride just using stiffer shocks and softer springs. On quick transitions, that will work, but in deeper corners, you'll want the stiffer springs. If you want to do it right, stiffer springs, and shocks valved for those springs and the chassis is the ideal solution.

Anyway, as long as the spring rates, damper bound, and damper rebound are tuned together, it all works in harmony. I can also see where you'd get the jack hammer effect if you didn't have rebound dialed in...
