Default EPC!!!

Well just finished the install of my new alternator,TB,VG..... pretty darn sure I plugged everything in correctly..

I ONLY have power when my car is being jumped, radio, window, no lights though? When we disconnect the cables it loses everything except I can faintly read the clock.

I have a brand new alt and batt. I'm guessing the MAF? I've tried to read up on it but nobody gave a definitive answer.

Doesn't crank, click nothing. I checked advanced autoparts they said they can get a MAF with core for like 165$. I don't wanna buy it if I don't have to plus it'll take four days.

Ideas?

The car doesn't even hold power it just dies as soon as I disconnect the jumper cables.
What am I missing?????????????

I'm dieing here guys somebodys gotta be able to help me.

Could it be a security thing?

Start with the basics. Just because the battery is new, doesnt mean it is holding a charge, who nows how long its been on the shelf. Check cables for corrosion/breaks. Check fuses etc. Start with the simple stuff before throwing more parts at it and wasting money.

ok I'll try that but I just bought the batt. but I soon realized it was the alt. so i figured why not open everything up and do TB and VCG. I'll check it out.

The batt. worked for a while and when I try to jump it, it sits above 12 volts. but as soon as I disco the cables I lose all power except for the clock which is dimly lit then that dies eventually.

Thanks

where are the grounds located? The bat ground is fine.

Before I started this project I could jumpstart my car and everything worked fine except the volt meter would slowly go down. So it's gotta be something I did I would assume.

I'll try your suggestions I've been looking all week for answers.

thanks.

Well... F me for rushing this project. After putting everything back together I figured out I missed 1 stinking lil itty bitty wire behind the ALT. 1 WIRE!!!!! Couldn't believe it. Got it started tapped so loud I thought it was destroying itself but I forgot it just needed the oil to heat up on the valves. Tapping slowly went away.....

I still have minor tapping ( if I put my ear to the engine I can hear it) but could be cuz it's freezing out, haven't started it in over a month. Also has 125K on it but everything looked really clean on the inside.

So I hope this helps somebody somewhere.
