Default Originally I was planning on it... but I remembered I now have class from 6:00 - 8:00

on wednesdays :-( I'll see what the class is like (just started classes today so I haven't had it yet) and see if I can afford to miss it. I doubt it though since it's only one day a week :-/

Default Strapping the car down on the dyno and doing pull after pull puts a lot more stress

on the car than going WOT down the road. I don't care how much you try to simulate the load.

I find it rather coincidental that most, if not all, of the 2.7T engine failures we've heard about have been on the dyno. From Ari's old car years ago to the Vag Motorsports GT25R S4 to aixgelo78. I know there are others too...

Default DAP put down over 500whp on the same dyno with PJ K04s.

If his car were pushed as hard as aixgelo78's (i.e. same amount of boost), he probably would have squeezed out that extra 10-15whp and made around the same number as Chris.

Default That's because most of these cars only ever see the dyno. :-p

Just look at all of the problems that aixgelo first discovered on the dyno. Doesn't that tell you that the car isn't seeing the same stresses on the street? I think Tony will tell you that cars often come in that clearly aren't working right.

I'm not sure I agree with you either on the stress of street vs. dyno. I think each has its unique problems.

For Dyno pulls it seems to be cooling. But on the other hand, a dyno pull only lasts a few seconds so the car doesn't face continuous stress. And even then, it is only moments at max RPM.

On the street, it depends a lot on what you're doing with the car. If it is flat out in 5th then it can be medium boost at maximum RPM for a considerable period of time. That can be tougher on an engine I think.

So I'm not sure how easy it is to generalise.

Default Funny how you've gone from wanting an aggressive tune to wanting a conservative tune. :-p

But I think you made the right decision. It just isn't worth taking risks unless you lay the groundwork first and are willing to loose. You've clearly got more than enough power for what you need.

Looking forward to hearing more of you plans for a built engine.

Any any ****? I'd love to see that connecting rod..

Stephen
