Error Code: None (w/ Stock ECU), 6 DTC found (w/ X-chipped)
At the beginning of the week, my ECU (chipped or not) were having some attitude. Kept throwing EPC light 30 minutes after driving. Only until I reset/redo the Throttle Body Adaption (mind you I did not have VAG-COM back then, only did it with key turn at power-on position and let it redo by itself) will the EPC light go away.
I was getting code 17579 about the Throttle Actuation thingy, along with inlet air box temp too high/low, coolant tempterature too low/high...stuff like that~ That was all with the X-chipped ECU.
Finally, on Friday, I brought the car into service and had them take a look at it. After talking to 2fas4u2pass and he showed me a past thread of Ferris (the guru), I was expecting them to actually replace the throttle actuator or sensor or whatever?! Turned out they couldn't find a thing with the STock ECU.
The same day I received the activation code for my newly registered VAG COM. After I got my car back from Service and paid the unnecessary $81.00-, they told me to leave the Stock ECU alone for the weekend to see if any codes show up. (05:30pm)
I was trying hard to resist to put back my X-chip. But used the VAG to search for DTCs after 1 hr of spirited driving, showed none. So, I let the car REST for over an hour while I went ahead to finish other things. Came back, car was cooled down a bit. I then pop'd the X in. Cleared codes and re-did the Throttle Body Adaption through VAG (1st time doing it through this method), and went out for a 30min spin. NO CODES by the end of the drive whatsoever...
so, was my $81.00 really wasted? was it all caused by this stupid key at Power-On position TBA job? or is there really something wrong with my throttle actuator?
what gives?
should I worry any further? (or paranoid?? LOL)
