Where does the ESP button actually connect to? ECU or ESP controller?
Not that it really matters, there is probably enough communication between the two for either to work. Just seems like if most of the ESP logic is in the controller, and it has the ESP button and brake switch inputs, that it would decide when to reengage on its own. I suppose it's very well possible the ecu has a say and can command the controller to _NOT_ turn on ESP under braking.

I have no idea. I have pinged a few tuners to see if they know of any bits to set in the ECU (more)
but the jury is still out.
I agree with you, we do need a tcpdump/wireshark/dtrace for this car.
