Default ESP Questions.....

Alright guys, I have read in a number of places that when you turn the ESP off it is not really off, I have also read that if you hold the button for 30 seconds it totally turns off. I have tried this and yes the light turns off but I cannot tell any diffrence. What is the real deal? I will turn my ESP off when I am going for a spirited drive but have never felt that it has interviened though I am not doing any opposite lock drifting with the car. Just curious what the deal is.

Cheers,
Jim

You have to give it a real workout to have ESP kick in.

Holding the ESP button down doesn't turn it totally off.

Default It isn't completely off. I was told by An Audi rep that you put the ebrake

on. Turn esp off by hitting the button. press on the brake. (once or twice not sure) Release ebrake. This works for me and then I can do donuts w/o the esp intervening. Please chime in if you have any additional info.

Default Keep ESP on. The ESP light will flash on your display when it intervenes

If it's not intervening, you're driving like a ***** =p

In all honesty, there's no need to turn it off on the street unless you see it intervening and are confident that you can maintain safe control of the vehicle with it defeated. Which a lot of people probably can't. You've been warned.

Default Keep it on...

I would have wrecked the car without it. I have trouble with a stiff right foot.

Default A couple times now, the ESP light has come on and even when hitting the button it does not shut...

off. It does not go off until the car is turned off. Then when you turn the car back on or next time you drive it, its fine no light. This has ramdomly happened two or three times now...

Default I have felt it at times

and have seen the light flash. When I am out for a sporting drive there are times that intrudes when I do not want it to...powering out of a turn when there is a elevation change, using lift throttle oversteer to tighten a line ect. When I turn it off it seems, at least to me, that it is off. Just want to know the low down on this.

Cheers,
Jim

It doesn't defeat EDL, and according to some will still intervene at a greater threshold
