Every time my wife drives my car....

within a few days (typically 1-2) I get a check engine light. She drives rather slow (light on the pedal) and I tend to get into the throttle a little harder. Once I've driven the car for a day or two the check engine light is out. Vagcom typically indicates emmissions related issues, but I don't understand why the car needs to be run hard to keep emmissions gremlins as bay?
Any insight?

this happened on my 911 once. IIRC, my mechanic told me if you drive the car very mellow, the temperature of the catalyst doesn't get hot enough to work properly. The computer sense that and throws a code.
So you need to get the car up to temp and drive it a few times into higher RPM's to "reset" the computer.

It's just a precat efficiency code though so I just clear it and don't give 2 sh*ts about it...
