Default I waited a month and the container got hung up for a security screening...

and I have NO estimated delivery time. At least I don't have to pay for the security screening (the furniture store does)...I know a guy who ordered a GT40 kit from Australia and he had to pay for it to go through the screening, believe it took 8 months for him to get that kit from when he ordered it.

Default I often find that tuners will promise dates they cannot keep. I don't really blame them...

I blame their distributors. I just wish they'd be more honest with you. "I have no idea when I can get the parts to you because my distributor is flakey". But then again I suppose they'd sell less product if they told you that.. ;-)

This post is not directed at Achtuning or anyone specifically. Just my personal experience with most tuners in general.

Modding = waiting for parts. You've just got to get used to that.

Default we blew up our race car motor in December and it's still not finished...

even the dealers can't get parts guaranteed on a particular date/time.

Default I think it's about setting expectations...

Achtuning tells him he will have parts by "X" date...he makes his purchasing and installations plans accordingly. Had he been told there is a possibility that "you won't receive the parts when you need them", his expectations would have been set right out of the gate, and this post wouldn't exist.

Frankly, if I were in his shoes, I might be a little upset about it as well. But at the same time...everybody else here is right. These things happen...it's best not to make an appointment for an installation until you have all the parts in hand, and you've verified that the parts supplied are the CORRECT parts. Murphy's law....

Default right, good policy not to guarantee delivery dates...that doesn't equal being "screwed"...

these small shops live and die on reputation...there are much better ways to say "I'm bumbed that this stuff didn't arrive when they said and I hope they make it a policy not to overpromise" rather than saying "I got screwed".

Default best not to try an order parts for a track event so late

I am not doing any autoX or track stuff this year for that reason. I just don't think my car is setup right yet.

Default I hear ya but I don't like to be told 5 days and it takes 3 weeks. Give me an accurate timeframe and

check it periodically. If it's going to be later, call me and let me know.

I get very frustrated being told 1 thing and waiting and waiting longer than that.
