Default Excel's "Save as Web Page" works great for turning log graphs into images....

Previously I had been doing a "copy" of each image from Excel and then "pasting" them into Paint one at a time, and saving each with a different filename. That's time consuming.

Last night I tried using the "Save as Web Page" option in Excel, and sure enough it creates the individual images of each, puts them all in a single directory, and then makes a web page to call all images.

That just automated a ton of work, making it easier for me to get log graphs online.

Here's the result. All I did was a mere "Save as Web Page":

<a href="http://ctny.audiworld.com/mark/golf/logs/data/050718_stock/" target="_blank">http://ctny.audiworld.com/mark/golf/logs/data/050718_stock/</a>

Here's some screen captures of the steps:

- First I selected Column A which I have previously set to be just as wide as the graphs. This will allow my output webpage to just contain the images and not all the data in the other columns.
- I then selected File -&gt; Save as Web Page

<img src="http://ctny.audiworld.com/mark/s4/ecux/excel_saveaswebpage.jpg">

At this point, you can still output the "Entire Workbook" (with all data as well, from the other columns), or merely click on the "Selection" button as I have below which shows the output will be only what I have selected (Column A):

<img src="http://ctny.audiworld.com/mark/s4/ecux/excel_saveaswebpage2.jpg">

You then end up with:
- the directory of images
- an html webpage that calls those files

And inside the directory, here are the images:

And as noted above, here's a link to such a webpage that I've uploaded:

Default always unimpressed with the quality of image that excel puts out. but can't argue with automation

i just HATE plotting in excel. it has no concept of plotting multiple things on one axis. it just plots data pairs.
so when i have to log two blocks to get CFs for instance i can plot the first 4 cylinders vs. their time stamps, but when i put cylinders 5 and 6 on the same plot i have have to accept the fact that they are a bit shifted on the timescale.

you should fix the scales on your plots. i always set the min on boost plots to 1000 mbar. and i set the background to "none" makes them easier to read.

i'm so tired of plotting in excel. i'm going to start writing plotting routines in perl similar to nye's fats calculator.

it should be able to take ANY CSV find the key data i'm looking for (search for contiguous building of boost or rpms, or specify it) and plot it exactly how i want, just by typing a few commands.

and gnuplot or similar's plotting quality is VASTLY superior to excel's.

&lt;/rant&gt;

Default You can plot different blocks and maintain an accurate time relationship.

I usually put the data I want to chart on a seperate worksheet so it is easier to work with. You just need to have the time in one column, and the data you are plotting in the other columns.

I've been saving graphs as web pages since I first began graphing. I thought you or Matt taught me.

yeah but you have to combine the data by hand, or some advanced macro way, correct?

Default I thought you of all people would know that:)

J/K I have the old excel and have been doing that for a long time. I think mine creates .jpg's though.

BTW, I'm looking at a cheap dell laptop ($599) to finally have something that can run ecux, and use your templates..
