Exhaust on stock doesn't do much?

Someone in an earlier post mentioned new exhaust on a stock car won't do much. About the only performance mod I can do right now without risk of voiding the AOA warranty is an exhaust system (my dealer okayed it), so I was thinking of getting the single Milltek catback exhaust for some extra horsepower (DonP's review showed 21hp gains at the wheels). Any thoughts? Or will this only help if I also chip.

as for the warranty, get it in writing. otherwise you'll come back to your dealer in a month and they'll give you a blank stare

if you can afford it get two ecu's on which is chipped and the other stock and just switch them if something goes wrong...i bring mine to the dealer chipped with a loud uuc vm2 and they don't say a thing..they have test driven it a couple of times when my mass airflow sensors went so they know for sure its chipped..the chip is a HUGE jump over stock..i doubt if you will see much gain from just an exhaust and if at all it will be at high rpms' my 2 cents

It will free things up high a bit and give you a few more HP, 10 - 15 seems a bit more realistic. I've read DonP article, and like himself, it's seems like a few more HP then one would expect.
Considering a chip is the same or less that the price of some exhaust systems, I would consider both at some point.
Enjoy.
