Default Extended warranty debate time.. once again..Here's some info :- )

I have compiled a list of some of the companies offerring extended warranty for the S.

All of the quotes stated below and the information provided is for a 2000 6spd, with 32K miles on the dash.

Note: Most of the companies have similar coverages and are backed by reputable AMBest verified companies. For more information on each please visit their websites.

The prices are with all of the discounts offerred as of now, with the deductibles stated besides them.

The year/mileage is the number of years from the date you purchase the warranty and the total mileage on your DASH (not + your current mileage)

1. Warrantygold.com

Diamond package (you want this one because the packages don't cover most of the things you would want)

$2828 $0
5years/100K

They are the best sounding so far but the price is pretty steep. The sales guy tried very hard to convince me to go with them, but i hung up the phone before falling for the sales pitch. They cover pretty much all of the things we need to worry about.

2. 1st source.com (YES they do cover twin turbos)

Diamond package same as above

$3569 $0
5years/100K

The most pricey one i ran into and the lady really didn't know what she was talking about. btw: when i asked her howcome on their website they state no twin turbo cars, she replied that is on us to decide which we take and which we decline for warranty. So from $2769, the premium shot up to $3569 when she realized that the S4 has not one but TWO TURBOS. This one is a definite NO in my book.

3. Nextcar warranty
Homemaker package (just kidding)

$1435 $0
4years/current mileage + 60K

$1985 $0
7year/100K

The lady i spoke with didn't have a freaking clue to what she was doing. And i could hear her kid crying in the background. NOT a GOOD symbol. Seems like this company gets a HELL NO AWbest rating :-P

4. ccwarranty.com

Exclusionary warranty package (just like the factory warranty, according to the sales dude)

$1645 $50
5years/100K

On their site you can see the stuff which is covered and not covered under the warranty. Helpful sales guy and he claims that its backed by warrantech and great american insurance. AMbest had no record of warrantech but great american is "A". a good candidate but i don't like the $50 deductible thing and NO they don't have a $0 deductible.

5. e-warrantysolutions.com

Exclusionary coverage

$2047 $0
6years/112K (don't ask me why, how? i think it depends on the amount of mileage you have on the car when you sign up. but don't quote me on that)

This company is based locally out of hanover park IL (for my chicago peeps). Talked to the president and he seemed like a nice guy (but aren't they all when they are trying to sell). They have only been in the business for about a year or so but they are backed by a strong company, Hanover Insurance, and Saint Charles Insurance. Really didn't find any info on the latter, although hanover has an "A" rating For the amount of money and time period the extended warranty covers the car for, i think this might not be a bad route for someone looking to keep the car for some time.

There are many other companies out there you can choose from, but i didn't have the patience to talk to another sales rep. Warrantybynet is another popular candidate, but seeing how they dicked my buddy with an e36 m3 around for all of his claims, i am not going near them.

After talking to many people i have learned one thing, that its more important to find out the history of the administrators (the people who got the "yay" or "nay" on the claims) and the isurance companies (the ones with the credibility and capital), than the dot.com company which are just pretty interfaces.

If anyone has any more information to add to this please do so

DISCLAIMER: This information is for INFORMATION ONLY purpose. I don't take any responsibility for any of the companies stated above, and i am in no way pushing these companies upon anyone. I could care less if you get the warranty from RAY-RAY down the street. So don't email me asking me for more information because i have already spent enough time on this for you LAZY PHUCKERS :-))) shamefully, i am one of you!

Default I bought Extended Auto Warranty Inc. $1699 4yr/48K above the 50K, $0 ded.

I've made 2 claims so far just recently in my rear/center differential debacle and both were paid.
It covers the turbos by the way.
Only negative is it has a $10,000 maximum payout over the life.
Another positive is if you never make a claim over the life of the warranty, it is 100% refundable.

Default More of my warranty research with links to previous threads too.

OK. I got the contract packet from Extended Auto
Warranty Corp.
The contract says this (among other things) that could
be specific to mods:
"INELIGIBLE VEHICLES
- Vehicles modified from the manufacturer's original
specifications
EXCLUSIONS
- Defects, damage, or deterioration due to normal use,
wear and tear, exposure, misuse, alteration,
negligence or accidents.
- Any wear or damage caused by failure to maintain the
vehicle under the standards of the manufacturer."

The other thing I noticed on the contract was a
$10,000 maximum payout.

For a comparison, I talked with Jim Ellis about
extended warranties. Lee didn't raise any flags with
the aftermarket company. I asked if they offered any
companies, and Jerry said Fidelity and to talk with
Audi sales. I talked with sales (name ???). Although
they do not have an Audi extended warranty, they do
recommend Fidelity, and he said Fidelity is the ONLY
plan they accept. I talked with service again, and Lee
said aftermarket extended warranty plans are NO
problem as long as they pay with a corporate credit
card, which Ext. Auto Warr. Corp does, as do most I
checked with.

Here's the Fidelity info:
If you are past 36,000 miles, then the car must be
inspected. They have multiple plans, but the one as
close to the OEM as possible is the Gold 3yr/36K.
The plan pricing for a 2000 S4 is:
$1436 ($250 ded)
$1541 ($100 ded)
$1606 ($50 ded)
no $0 ded option

I am going to Jim Ellis to read over their info about
what's covered, max payout $$$, etc.

Basically, the Audi "recommended" plan is about 50%
more:
Fidelity: $1606 ($50 ded), 3yr/36K ~ up to 86K miles
Ext. Auto Warr.: $1699 ($0 ded), 4yr/48K ~ up to 98K
miles

Conclusion:
The aftermarket mod coverage question still exists. I
don't think anybody expects a warranty to cover the
aftermarket parts (though wouldn't that be slick), but
what about covering turbos with a chip mod, or wheel
bearings with a suspension and 18" wheel upgrade? The
contract doesn't say "the mod has to be proven to have
caused the failure", only "INELIGIBLE VEHICLES
- Vehicles modified from the manufacturer's original
specifications"
