Default Fabulous - ever since dealer did 60k, timing belt, water pump, t stat, the coolant is leaking

or burning off. It's really really slow. After about a week it's down maybe a 1/2 inch in the reservoir.

No noticeable leaks up top, from the reservoir, pipes, what have you. Looked down the front of the engine as much as I could and didn't see any crystallizing.

I'm guessing the water pump, or if the Thermostat sits in coolant, then they're either defective or not properly seated/connected.

Default Oh **** that happened to me. Then the oil drained from the car. And now

KO4's are going in. My independent shop (Gunbarrel Import Motors) said I had a leaky turbo causing the oil drain. For the last 20k I have had a very slow coolant leak which they also ascribed to the leaky turbo, YMMV. I just hope you have ONLY a coolant leak and not something more series. How many miles on the car?

Other possibilities include a leaky coolant pumps, there are two, a leaky hose or a cracked reservoir.

Default 60k, it's not the reservoir. I can smell the coolant, which makes me think its leaking onto a hot

surface. Hopefully not the turbo housing. Aww **** I need to go see if I can see the damn coolant lines to the turbos.

Default could you smell coolant? was your leak at the connection or in the housing?

hmmm, maybe my tax refund will be enough to cover a couple of K04s.....

Default No, never could detect anything. The car had the very annoying slow coolant leak

I changed out my water pump and timing belt and it still persisted. Never did I see any drips, residue or smell. Hopefully KO4's should solve my problem.

Default Look down underneath the driver's side bypass valve...

...and let me know if you see coolant puddling down there. It will run off of the backside of the motor. You'll smell it slightly and it will be the cause of a small leak if the hose that runs through there is leaking. Staley said that's a common leak area and that replacing that hose/seal is 18 hours of labor by the book because of the PITA-to reach design of it. He also said he replaces that hose whenever he does a Stage III kit and has access to it already. According to him, the leak will get worse and then suddenly have a massive failure. So I've got that on my near horizon too. Great. Way to design a motor, Audi engineers, you bunch of sh*theads.

If you smell it from the passenger compartment -- probably leaking from the heater core.

...another "impossible-to-get-to" location designed by Audi engineers. Thanks.

Failure of the auxiliary coolant pump is kind of common for a slow leak
