Default Fan Comes On After Engine Shutoff

Has anybody had this problem? It started a few weeks ago, and was intermittent...now its constant. However, the fan shuts off after 10 minutes. After over 70k miles in this car, I'm 99% sure that the fan never came on after engine shutoff before...even after the stage 3 upgrade 40k miles ago. When this started, the coolant level WAS a bit low, but after I topped it off, there's been no coolant loss; the temp gauge has never strayed from normal. Any ideas? Thanks!

Default After run system kicking in. Where you located? You been pushing the car hard lately? Mine only

comes on after HARD runs in moderate to high outdoor temps. Maybe the sensor is on it's way out.

My car is a daily driver, and believe me, I don't push the car hard at all. Everyone would be disappointed in me! Its been cold in NJ, so I too suspect the sensor is on its way out, as you suggested. Thanks!

Default Which fan ? The one in front of the radiator (AC fan) ?

If yes, your aux. fan control is toast and need to be replaced.

https://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng65.shtml</a

Default There's actually a mod that some (including myself) do to FORCE that to happen...

by using a sensor with a lower threshold... can supposedly help extend the life of your turbos

Search for "afterrun" to find out more.

Default My car did this, the problem was related to the ECU wiring harness (more).

The harness runs over some points in the engine that gradually wear down the wiring insulation. The first symptom was the after run pump behavior you are describing. Eventually the ECU fuse (#28 I think) blew and left me stranded. Induktion Motorsports spent a good deal of time troubleshooting but once they pulled the harness and wrapped it, the fan behaved normally and the car has been fine since.

Last time I was at Induktion they said they had seen another car with the same problem. Hope this helps.

Tifosi, thanks for the response, I'm actually not exactly sure which fan, but I think its a radiator fan. I will check to make sure! Thanks!

TwentyValveB5+S4, thanks for your response too. I "thought" I had heard of that mod, but I'm greatly displeased when the car tries to mod itself! If only it wold pay for itself too. Thanks!

LaserAvant, thank you so very much for your hint...if that's indeed what the problem is, I'll need to check this ASAP. I'll let others know what I find, in case it can save somebody else down the line. Thanks again!
