Default RTI

What I like about the RTI is it's compact and very easy to use. Once you get it attached to the spring, run an impact gun on the nut to compress the spring. Problem is you shouldn't use an impact gun on the drive nut. There is a pin that secures it to the driveshaft, and the force of an impact gun will snap that pin over time. I'm not about to turn that drive nut by hand...so I just bought a handful of replacement pins from Home Depot.

What I don't like about it is you need some clearance between the spring windings to wedge in the "claws" of the compressor. On a handful of occassions, this has been problematic. Some times I have been able to use a screwdriver to pull apart the windings enough to get the compressor claws in place, but other times it was not going to happen. In that case I used a Branick to get the job done. It's a very good compressor, but a good bit more tedious to work with, and it's rather large (well suited for a shop, but not for someone limited on space).

Scary how? They're robust and don't flex at all.

Default I like this one. May be overkill though.

Default Just worried if one of the ends slip off. One of those things not likely to happen but...

I just tightened both sides equally, and kept an eye on the ends that were clamped to the spring.

The little safety pins are good insurance against that.
