So I had the ECU upgraded to the new Version 8 (lots of numbers missing). It was from some accounts on this list the cats meow, possibly the best chip Garrett ever created etc..etc..
If you recall my previous posts about the experience with the GIAC you would know that I was very happy with the version 7 power wise. It felt quite strong and ran nicely on 91 octane donkey ****, the only issue I had was the bucking at light or constant throttle (I believe I said it was like a carnival ride)..
Anyways the Version 8 code, absolutely, get's rid of that bucking sensation @ 3K or light to constant throttle. It's totally gone, gone!!
The power is still quite smooth (Although don't feel much difference from version 7 when hard on throttle).. I'm not sure but it could actually be a bit weaker then the version 7 (but who knows, doubtful). I will only be driving it another day or 2 before I start with the AMS chip.
Dyno results by mid Sept.
So for those that were experiencing bucking, off throttle acceleration etc. Run don't walk to your local GIAC rep and get the new code, it's "RIGHT"

I was originally sold on getting a GIAC...but I've heard so much bad stuff about the GIAC X chips, how they're really powerful at the expense of reliability (high temps, running lean, etc.). Unfortunately, I don't know if it's just the mob, or if it's legitimate criticism.
I respect AWE, and they sell the GIAC. Hm.
No one says APR is particularly hard on the turbos, but on the other hand, everyone seems to say that it's pretty wussy unless you're on race gas (not available near me).
MTM is supposed to be great but heinously overpriced.
AMS I almost never hear anything about.
Abt seems to be the one I hear the most good and the least bad about - as powerful as the GIAC X-chip, consistently smooth, and not as hard on the turbos...any insight? You seem to have done a great deal of homework on the subject.
