Finally made it back to the drags after almost a year... 12.5@113
I had clutch issues this spring after replacing a slipping one that was happening last fall. I'm happy to finally say that now I have a clutch that is holding. The only downside is that it holds too well at some times. At high RPMs at the end of 2nd, the disc is still holding the fly/pp and when I try to shift into 3rd, it doesn't want to go. I had this happen twice identically (pretty funny identical flat 60 MPH section for ~2 secs in those two logs). I then made slower shifts to allow successful shift on the first try. I'll have to see how that plays out and deal with it I guess.
I went to the drags mainly just to run in street trim to make sure I didn't have a slipping clutch issue any more. I made two passes on 93oct resulting in 13.0@106 and 13.2@106, both with 1.93 60'. The 13.0 was against a GTO that ran 13.2@105 so that was a nice kill
I was happy with the clutch holding, so I then put in race gas and opened the dumps.
Best ET was 12.5@113 and best trap was 115.
These MPH are down from previous runs, where I had some other differences in setup. Last night I was running my RS4 Replica Boat Anchors, full interior, and without my ram intake. Next time out, I will put on my OZs, pull the seats, and run the ram.
I plan to go a handful more times in Oct, so I hope to see some improvements. I was happy with the 12.5, which is the quickest I've made it down since May of last year. I also managed a 1.790 and a 1.815 60' which I was also happy with.
There were a host of C5 Z06's there, a C6, a new Viper Convertible, and also Greg had his twin turbo C5 out as well though he only made one pass at ~10.5@145

I did 110mph on 93 octane on old software and a still slightly heatsoaked car...
...not that it really matters since I'm not going back to the drag strip anymore so I will never really know, but with the new AWE RSK04 software and with a fully cooled car, I bet mine's got a 115mph trap speed in it on 93 octane -- "full weight" (except for brake upgrade, exhaust upgrade, no spare tire, lw flywheel, lw battery).

yeah, I was slower last night for some reason - I had a 109.25 previously on 93
on the production APR software, fully loaded Avant, etc, etc.
Last night is quite possibly the first time I've been to the drags with the RS4 reps - I'll have to think about that, but's likely the case. Either way, it should be nice changing from the Heaviest (52lb combo) wheels I've ever had to the Lightest (40lb combo):

Only a boost gauge .......... so far ............... ;^)
It already had suspension and GTi seats.
I'm not going insane on the Golf. My aim is to be on par with a Stg2 S4 on the highway. Something around 300wHP (340 crank?) should get me there considering differences in:
- weight
- drivetrain
- powerband
I plan to add:
turbo kit
exhaust
SMIC
clutch
flywheel
LSD
cat
Oh, and I'll keep it looking stock
