Default first time Ive been in 5 in. of snow--michelin pilot sport all season review

finally I got to try these in some deep snow and now I have mixed emotions. They work very well in most bad weather, but if the snow is deep and packed the traction is good but the stopping is not so great. Combined with Quattro and ABS it is adequate if your paying attention however, I have never hit my ABS that much. The car stops ok but you don't feel as confident with the ABS "shudder" going on. In unpacked snow they work surprizingly well! Cutting through 5 in. of snow was no problem and stopping was very adequate. would I buy them again? It would depend on the situation as strict snow tires, no, as allround tires with no summer set maybe, depending on what I intended them to do. I run I run 18's in the summer and stock S4 wheels in the winter, and they don't perform as well as the 18's.

Default ABS lengthens stopping distance on snow, but it give you control. That they stop well in unpacked

snow make sense, since snow is getting piled up in front of the tread.

Older Audi's from the late 80's early 90's had an abs on/off switch; wish they still had it...

No, that would kill diff locking (EDL) too.

Default If you're running different wheels in the winter anyway you might as well get snows. Seems kinda

silly to me to put A/S tires on your winter wheels.

I would be more concerned about losing ESP. I actually plan on using that in snow.

Means you'd have open diffs and probably not much forward motion on slick surfaces.

I'm thinking more about how it would work on the track.
