First track event coming up, any advice (stock S4).

If this is your first track event, the stock S4 is more than enough car to begin learning with. It's a well sorted out car in stock form. Just leave it like that for your first track event or two. Tire pressures are the only thing you should be worried about.

They will not make it through a day, much less a weekend of full braking for every turn. Brake as hard as you want on some of the laps, but on a lot of them try to brake a little earlier. Be sure to cool down your brakes plenty for your last lap or two before coming in. Run tire pressures 44F/41R.

Brake pads are key... you will smoke them after only a few laps if you go hard on them, but if you have a nice set of carbon racing pads, your braking will be better and more consistant... definitely worth the investment, IMO

...after running my car at about 44F/42R. If you go lower on the track, you will roll the sidewalls over and prematurely wear your tires out. Temperature across the tread feels even after track runs at 44F/41R; I'd guess hot you can add 2-3PSI.

Porterfield Race Pads ($400) and Pagid race/street pads developed by MTM/Audi and available through Hoppen ($350). These will both still lead to rotor warpage -- part of the S4 brake problem, the first part of the problem being the pads disintegrate at the track.

I would recommend blacks. If you use some brake pad glue, they should be fairly quiet.
They won't be the MTM compound, but realistically, they can't be much different.
