Default flashing CEL

tonight on my way home my CEL light (that has been on about 200miles) started flashing. I have had a code for a malfunctioning primary 02 but it has always been steady. i pulled over and turn the car off asap. waited about 5 or 6 minutes and turned it back on. the CEL light was no longer blinking but back to steady. anything to be majorly concerned about? what do you guys think? this was also right after it made a very choppy idle sound, like a camed car, for a few seconds at a stop light.

If you have a VAG, should check this as soon as possible.

Yes, be concerned. Don't drive it. To start, vag it.

Default more searching and i found if it goes away it means it was a misfire...

probably why it was making the sound. i have been getting misfire codes for cylinder 4,5,6. anyone know why it would be on concecutive cylinders?

Default after putting several things together and talking with a few people...

i think i have it figured out. i have been having 02 poblems on the same bank i have been having misfires on (all 3 cyl. on bank 2). i think the two are realated and the flashing light is a "live misfire" flash. so.....hopefully its all related to something as simple as a failed primary 02. if not....crap

a flashing CEL generally indicates misfires.
