your ignition amplifiers are the electronic bits on top of your airbox - theres two of them, one for
each cylinder bank. often when you start seeing an entire cylinder bank start to misfire, theres a problem with one of the ignition amps. you can confirm this by swapping the cables to them and seeing if the misfires move to the other cylinder bank.
unfortunately, the little bastards are expensive to replace.

Both my CEL and airbag light have been randomly going on and off <-- schondame (forgot to login)
meaning sometimes when I drive the car they or one is on... other times not at all... and even other times one or both will come on half way through a drive. I need a VAG anyalysis desperately... :/
