Okay so I bought this car about 10 days ago. I has a APR chip that I have returned to stock mode until I can go to the shop and have the ECU reflashed because it shows 4 programs on the receipt but I can only access 3. So I accelerated in 4th gear to get around a slower vehicle in the fast lane. When I let off the throttle the car felt like the engine completely came off boost and felt flat. My wife noticed that the check engine light was flashing. The check engine light flashed for only a couple of seconds then turned completely off. I have had experience with VW's 1.8t and know what a turbo engine feels like when coming off boost and this felt pretty normal. The vehicle has only 32,000 miles and is in perfect condition, I just had the oil changed with 5w-40 synthetic. Everything works great on the vehicle and has been running normally since I have had it. I did a hard acceleration run once off the freeway in second gear and everything was fine. I was thinking that there was some possible back pressure from the diverter valve that caused the check engine light from coming off of full boost. Our previous vehicle was a 2006 S4 but because of a growing family we decided to sell that vehicle and go with a wagon and my wife loved the performance of the S4 so here we are.

For info there are no other modifications to the vehicle that I am aware of, such as exhaust, diverter valves, etc.

Prolly O2 wires or other wires shorting out on the firewall . . . check fuses. What year?

+1 - It flashes to tell you that you will damage your cat. Required by OBDII standards.
