how old is your car? (age and miles)

Default Well, the problem is that the voltage post-ballast is way out of range for any normal voltmeter...

and the starter burst is usually around 25kV, too

Do the interior lights and voltmeter fluctuate/swing if the headlights are NOT on?

Does the fluctuation follow RPM at all?

It could possibly be your alternator...

When the headlights are off, the interior lights do not flicker as much, (it is barely noticable, if at all) but the dash voltmeter still fluctuates the same.

The fluctuation is independent of engine speed.

The interesting thing is this problem doesn't happen often. It is usually after longer drives when the car is up to temperature and things are nice and toasty...

Hehe - I used to have that problem in my old SAAB. I had that thing loaded down with subs & amps galore.

Incase there's a short or something, I'd keep a fire extinguisher handy in the car...
