Flow Rates for Stock Mufflers?

Was looking at the recent S4 article in the US MAX Power and was wondering what are the flow rates for the stock mufflers? Possible to achieve a high flowing exhaust without the added noise by changing the stock pipes to 3" and leaving the stock mufflers in place? Good idea .. bad?
