Default Fog lights going off on their own: Figured out why.

It looks like the problem (or part of the problem) is the stalk that turns the
highbeams on.

Lastnight I was able to get the fog lights to go off on their own everytime I would
switch to high beams.

When I got back in the car I was not able to reproduce it as easily but still, fog
lights went off again when activating the turn signal and once they went off without
me touching anything at all (probably a false contact in the stalk).

The fog light relay MAY still be faulty also, but the stalk is for sure part of it. Add
this to the other 'known' issue with the cruise control (same stalk) which I have
complaint about before also and it's obvious it should come from there.

I just hope the dealer can fix it on the first try and without too much hassle....

Any other experiences?

Thanks.

I think so too based on the light projected on the road ahead, though I never got out to look.

Default don't think so, but I think he is talking about a different issue.

The fogs do deactivate when you hit the brights, but it sounds like he is saying he isn't even hitting the brights, some sort of short circuit causing the computer to think he hit them when he hits the turn signal causing the fogs to cut out.

Default When I switch back to low from high, the fogs should come back on...

at least that is what my car and two friends cars do. I brought the car to Audi to fix an interior light and now every 5th or 6th time I switch back to low beams the fogs don't come on. I inquired about it and they said they can't do anything about it. Love the car, hate the service.

Default I had this same prob (noticed it after I had the key code reset...

to have the windows open/close remotely). I remedied the foglight problem by doing the mod to control them separately from the lights...now everything's cool.
