I think you can just unscrew the light cut off shield from the inside.

thats a bad idea, you will blind other drivers.

Why would he want to do that? Those are there to prevent you from blinding oncoming traffic.

its for a road racing A4 he is building. The car will not be used on public road's

Default Even if it's not for road use, what good does taking the shield off do?

It's not like you're going to gain anything by letting the light stray higher. If anything, I would think you would lose output.
