Default Fuel 91 octane, California What the..

I need someone to explain something to me, in the linked article, they are talking about how much money it will cost to have 92 octane fuel once the additive MTBE is removed from our gasoline. I don't understand, less then 5 years ago (when was MTBE put in our gas?), we had 92 octane at $1.2x a gallon, now that they are pulling the MTBE, they are saying that in order to get 92 octane it would cost like $.50 more a gallon to produce. I don't understand, I think we are getting screwed and I think the CA government is letting the refinery's name their margins..

Can someone explain this, if the East Coast can get 93/94 octane for $1.43 and we can barely get 91 octane for $1.90 (now $1.79), what is different? Corrupt government, I don't understand.. Where do I go to voice my frustrations at how CA is letting certain sectors totally screw us (fuel etc).

Default You think that's bad! How come people in....

Michingan get 87 for 1.10?!?!?! We here on the east coast get it for 1.35-1.50. Can you tell me where on the east coast you get 93/94 for 1.43? I'll go there to fill up.

Gas has always been cheaper in the south. When I go that way I always pay less than up here in PA.

Except it jumps up at least $.20/gal down in Fl, but Florida isn't really "the South".

Default You really did **** us off more! Just kidding. I think I know why...

the prices are the way they are. I think it has to do with the local economies and the local demand for each grade of gasoline. The more cars there are using each grade, the more expensive each grade of gas will be. There are a looooot of expensive cars in NY and especially in CT so 93/94 is quite expensive.

Yeah. It depends on the economy of the state. Since Fl is a big attraction. It's gonna cost more.

Default I don't understand CT though. That place is expensive. When prices were really low a couple years. S

Still like $.30 more at least. Whenever I hit that state I would try to get some before so I won't have to sell a kidney for a tank of gas.
