Default Fuel system cleaning - want some options. Can any gas station do this properly?

Jason@Streetwerke just called (Hi Jason ) and after pulling two plugs, said my engine has a fair amount of carbon buildup from running rich some time ago. This could likely be the cause of the high knock tendency of my car so far.

Have any of you guys done anything to clean stuff like that out? What kinds of places should I call to get a full detergent run-through done?

I'm not comfortable with doing the seafoam thing myself - seems like there is potential to screw something up.

Default Find an FFV E-85 gas station... that should sort it out ;)

E-85 is high percent ethanol fuel; should clean it right up.

Default Some people swear by redline's additive...

<a href="http://www.redlineoil.com/products_fueladditives.asp"><img src="http://www.redlineoil.com/prdImg/63.jpg">
click</a>

I toss in a bottle of the that or chevron cleaner every 1000mi or so (4-5 tanks, usually)...

This won't solve your current buildup problem, but it can prevent too much in teh future.

I drive my cars too hard to get any carbon buildup, anyway, tho - I bet

Default Anything through the fuel system will not touch it. You need to steam it or use something like the

Mopar Combustion Chamber Cleaner the DSM gys use which is some sort of flamable solvent you pour into the intake track while running the car, tons of smoke blow out the back, but it loosens carbon deposits. DSMs have detonation troubles that are aggravated by carbon deposits and I remember the DSM guys swearing by the MCCC. Problem is, I heard DC discontinued is. Maybe there is another similar product or you could try plain water.

Default use a bottle of injector cleaners with a full tank of gas, when you fill it up again use 105 oct

to clean the motor, for my understanding high oct gas will clean the motor (carbon build and stuff like that.)

Chase it on the street wherever it's safe. Takes a little longer.
