I bought a new laptop to use with ecux and logged with no problems but never tried to change the settings. After having data dropped yesterday I tried to reduce the baud rate for logging today.
After opening an ecux group file I tried to click "actions" "settings" and got a run time error stating I need to load MSSTDFMT.DLL. WHen I clicked OK the program closed.
I copied the dll file from my other machine and pasted into windows/system32 but got the same error message.
I searched the net and found some advice to get it to work:
http://ask-leo.com/msstdfmtdll_is_missing_where_do_i_get_it.html
"That being said, you may already have the file on your machine. Use search for files to find it. If it's found, you may be able to get things to work by executing ""regsvr32.exe msstdfmt.dll" in Start, Run."
I typed regsvr32.exe msstdfmt.dll into the start/run box and opened ecu again..
ECUX WORKS!
I think this one of the very few times someone has solved a problem with ecux without emailing or shipping thier laptop to apr! J/K![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I'm using a dell latitude P4/1.8Ghz with 512MB ram. WINXP pro
BTW, my baud rate was set at 57600 by default and I justs reduced it to 19200.

Cheap **** laptops. :-p
Actually, in days of the first personal computers, it was often necessary to replace the serial chip to cure this problem.

We had to restart the car. ECUx wouldn't communicate with his ECU until we did that.
It's strange, because on my car, I always plug in the cable after the car is already running, then run ECUx, and never had a communication problem.

I ran into that one and did just what you did.
Good call on the baudrate. How did that affect your sampling rate?
Strange thing is, my old Inspiron 9100 933/512 had zero problems with ECUX on serial with everything at full acceleration. Now I'm using a 933/512 Fujitsu tablet.
