Default The skid plate I had made for me augments the plastic cover

it basically protects the oil pan. It is not a full super duper rally-certified skid plate - that would be too expensive, heavy and silly. I asked Bert (our rally guy) to build something that would keep us from getting stuck in the woods. It is not designed for reckless "look at me, I'm Carlos Sainz" driving down dirt roads.

I just removed the skid plate from the car because I don't think we're ever going to take the S4 down dirt roads. The STi has better ground clearance anyway.

No problem. That's what the good people at ClairParts are for!

Default yeah i knew it wasn't a super duty rally intended skid plate...

i'm just concerned about the random manhole covers(dont' laugh...one took out my plastic plate pretty bad) and rocks and such that may get kicked and i drive over them while they are still bouncing rolling etc...
you interested in sellinig your metal plate? more likely that not, i'll just go with this heavy duty option anyway though...

Default Now this is interesting..

I ordered PN 8D0863821P from impexfap on 12/19/2003 for $238.59 and received PN 8D0863821AC..

The P suffix part no longer shows up at impexfap, but there is a Q suffix for $252.38. The AC suffix is listed for $352.90.

elcats.ru lists the P suffix as
"SOUND DEADENER AND ENGINE/GEARBOX ASSY SKID PLATE"

They also have an AB suffix as "SOUND DEADENER FOR VEHICLES WITH ENGINE PROTECTION GRILLE BR:S4"

?!

Default wow... that stuff is pretty expensive... about $370 for the part...

I was quoted a part 8D0 863 821N, was curious if this part fits our S4s. The dealership said it was for 6 cylinder models.
Let me know cause this part is significantly cheaper.

Default I think N is the stock one, Q is the stock one plus sound deadening material

and AC is the reinforced one.
