do you have to change the gear box oil at all at any time???? If so when should this be done. It's just that my car is in for a check over tomorrow before warranty runs out,and i'm going to get a few bits done whilst it's there.ie: oil and filter..... I'm on 79000 at the moment. Thanks in advance, uk S4 with AMD remap, bailey diverter valves,Miltek exhaust,K & N induction kit.......

I changed mine around 60k miles. For the transmission, most use Redline MT-90 and for the rear differential, Redline 75W90 is most common.
Make sure you use a GL-4 spec oil for the transmission and a GL-5 spec oil for the rear differential.

parts in the tranny (like synchros), and that is why you must use GL-4 stuff only. Many in the US have reported inproved shifting characteristics with such an oil change.

Not a huge difference at all. And probably more due to the fact that the fluid in there was 60k miles old.
I did it more for maintenance reasons than to change the shifter feel.
