Don't EVER trust babelfish......it is retarted....and even when it is right, it will automatically translate it from english into "Sie", or formal form.....not what everyone uses.....basically you would say "Wie gehts?" Meaning "How's it goin?" It would translate it into "Wie geht es Ihnen?" Too formal, no real German uses that anymore, just the older folks really. In German, you have the "du" form and nowadays a German that is around your age or younger will tell you that you can "du" them now, it is ok.

Default Actually the Sie form is very much alive, especially with the up coming younger generation!!!

The generation now in their 30's widely use the du form but those now in their late teens / early twenties are more reluctant to use it. Just ask my kids (19+21)
