2nd. I reccomend to everyone that they install a MBC in parallel to limit spikes.

Default don't want to say - they have done a lot for me.

but i do agree 100% that he probably though I wanted the MBC only setup. which is why i "thought" that bringing some literature, graphs and diagrams would clear up the situation.

ah well.. it does look like i will be looking for a new installer.

Default 3rd. I recommend to everyone K03/chipped to follow the midgets advice on this *one* issue ;)

Find another and win a prize!

Default This might be a contraversial statement but in a way, your installer has a good point.

Adding the MBC and TCD is more of a band-aid solution to the real problem which is the software. What you're really doing with the TCD is tricking the ECU into thinking that your not boosting as high as you are so it won't cut throttle. Then the MBC is there so that you won't have those high boost spikes. I know that a lot of people here swear by the MBC + TCD combination but I like what your installer is saying. He is in fact looking out for the best interest of your car. Unless of course, he's an AMS dealer and is only trying to sell you his product.

Default I don't think anyone with K03 should run a TCD...

Just run an MBC in parallel. In that configuration it can do no damage. It just acts as a purely mechanical boost fuse for those times the N75/programming can't seem to keep up.

Default no TCD b/c I wasn't planning on going any higher than ~16psi on stock K03's.

soooo.. it should just limit the spikes on my turbos as opposed to "tricking the computer" w/ a TCD.

Default Would it be better to try and use Lemmiwinks to eliminate the software problem.

I would rather eliminate the root of the problem than add hardware to band-aid the problem. I know it takes a little more knowledge to do it but in the end, if it's possible, I think that would be the ultimate solution. Of course, GIAC updating the software to eliminate the problem would be even better but it seems like that's not going to happen.

Default Absolute 2nd. With that said, I have a TCD just for the hell of it ;p

Then there are those maniacs that run MBC only on k03s, tapering to ~1 bar *cough* like you did ya putz *cough*, that need a TCD or else they'll cut throttle ~6k RPM (maybe earlier depending on the brand of chip, but ~6K RPM with X).
