giac vs. apr
#36
I've been running the APR chip for about 1000 miles now....
93 oct. v5.0. So far I'm very happy with it. I really like being able to switch back to stock if I need to. Chipped mode is useless in the snow. To be fair, I've never experienced GIAC X, so I don't know how they compare. None the less, night and day difference from stock.

I have both - I prefer the GIAC. APR feels like a V8, but GIAC feels like a catapult.
I love the phsyiological response from the passenger - usually ranges from a grin to hysterics. It really crushes you into the seat.
I let my wife drive the GIAC and she was quite shaken from the experience - she said "You are fvcking crazy".
As others have said, APR is very smooth, and V5 pulls right up to the rev limiter (rev 3 was weak at higher RPMS).

I have both boxes and I think X has more down low, but the APR does move up top, that is...
What I have felt and seen with MY CAR. I will be doing a dyno, same day, same car, stock vs. X vs. APR. So we will see then....
Also I ran my APR in the 1320, 13.1@107, which is pretty fast for c/i/e. So all the APR haters can relax, it all depends on the car mostly. Some cars are quick and some just aren't, especially VW (12V VR's are the worst for inconsistancy).
