From what i understand........here's the scenario:

Let's say you are a normal person and like to start the car in 1st gear =) Ok so you go and get happy on the gas, building boost as revs climb. When you shift, what happens is the throttle body blades close, preventing anymore air from entering the system. The remaining air is recirculated within the system via the diverter valves (DV). With the stock DV's i noticed that when i would shift from, say.....3rd to 4th, i would experience a wierd sort of lag, ie, when i get of the clutch and hit the gas, it'd be a sort of 2 stage process. 1st it gets into gear and kinda starts to move, and then suddenly boost comes back and i'm zipping along agian.

With the Baileys, the shift is very crisp, it's as if the car never lost boost to begin with.....well not much anyway. The reason being is that with a chipped car, boost levels go past the 1.0bar level, while the stock DV's are rated at .8bar (i think)....causing them to leak. Before i put the baileys on, i could hear a depressurizing PFSHHHH sound......much like a BlowOFF valve. Now it's just silence, i even stuck my head out the window to listen for the sound that my stock valves made......

So basically.....Baliey's don't "make" or "lose" boost.......they preserve what's already built up in the system before it get's lost.

I notice it best when i'm hot on the gearbox......<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=5226"><img src="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/pictures/feetmobile.jpg" border= "0"></a><br><br>

Default =)

actually, it "felt" slower than the S4 because of.....NO BOOOOOOOST!!!!

but the throttle response is awesome. You touch the pedal, the car goes and goes NOW. You KNOW what the front tires are doing and where the rear tires are (unless you lose control......ahem.... =) ) It really is a pretty neat car.

Albeit i like the S4 more........<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=5226"><img src="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/pictures/feetmobile.jpg" border= "0"></a><br><br>

Default Yes! Point well taken ;-)...

... once you get used to that smack-in-the-back boost of the S4, many cars are going to be a disappointment as far as visceral feel.

The only other cars I have been fortunate enough to pilot that are similar in driving impression (as far as acceleration experience) have been overboosted DSM's.

BTW: I was happy to hear about the good results with the Bailey's valves!! Very cool.<p>Justin

If you could hear a depressurizing PFSHHHH sound, your stock valves were probably shot

Default Getting USED to the boost sucks!!!! It leaves you longing for more......

then you get all caught up in it, totally broke and whooped by it.......afraid to do anything to make it mad, get really pissed when it misbehaves, don't let ANYONE get NEAR it, dress it up in shiny baileys and polished wheels......hmmm.........<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=5226"><img src="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/pictures/feetmobile.jpg" border= "0"></a><br><br>
