that has a lid so that oil can't leak if it falls over. Thanks.

Default Pep boys sells an "enclosed" drain pan...

it has a little hole in the top that drain the oil inside the pan. Oil won't splash out once it drains into the pan, and I can't see how you could knock this think over unless you really tried. Should be less than $10 at any auto parts store. Just don't forget to uncork the vent valve or you're gonna have a problem when you start draining the oil into it. :-P

The Brand Blitz. It has a screen, lid, impossible to spill. (got it from True Value)

Default Ahhhh...I see the problem...

I don't like the splashdown either...so I typically hold the drain nut below the pan in such a way that the oil pours our slowly, rather than the sudden rush of oil and impending mess (which is inevitable...ask the B6 guys...they have an 11 qt sump to mess with...just imagine).

Anyway, I don't have the issue you have...but a simple solution is to break out your handy dandy drill, and put a few extra holes around the existing hole. Say...8 3/8" holes around the existing drain...that should effectively double the rate at which the oil drains into the pan.

Oh, and you did open that yellow vent cap like I mentioned, right?

How's the beer?

Default lol that same thing happened to me when i was changing the oil on my mercedes ml

i bought a 15 quart enclosed on so that i could change air cooled porsche engines (9+ quart capacity) and the car was up on my lift about 5 feet off of the ground. oil splattered EVERYWHERE then overflowed. im going to cut the top off of it and just use it as a big pan. that whole design just sucks *** in general.
