Default Got a question about Lemmiwinks and timing advance, has anybody tried to advance timing

on a stock car 1 or 2 degrees? Can it be done, and what would it do to the performance of the car? And how would this advance compare to the old way of doing it as a permanent fixture with the cam gear? I can always buy 93 octane, so gas is on the good side.

Default the stock ECU adapts pretty well on its own up to around 94oct

you probably won't be able to get much out of the car

Default

Are you saying that unless I up the boost, timing advance wouldn't be needed?

Default Pretty sure your talking 2 different things.

Adv timing is allowing the spark to happen sooner, changing the cam gear position changes when the valves are open.

You sould be able to do some slight changes with fuel and timing on a stock chip.

Default +3deg seemed to perk up a 2.7t in another stock audi, ~14v knock IIRC. need more time to see how

far it can go, and if it gets any faster. I'm betting it will meet requested load with less boost and not be any gain except off boost. +3 does feel good off boost though.

Default well, the ecu is VERY conservative with knock values -> correction factor

so if you were willing to take it to the edge, you could probably pep it up a tad... but really, you wont see many gains w/o upping boost like you said.

Default nick, have you logged 24/27 before and after with stock ecu?

i'd be curious to see the numbers on 93/94oct..

in cali with 91oct, cyl5 would almost get into the danger zone on a HOT day, even with a stock ecu.

Default nope :/ didn't have much time to mess with it, 5 minutes or so.

I just checked voltages real time, knock may have been ~11-12v stock stock on BP 93. didn't look at CF.

I need to nab it for an hour or so and do extended logging/tweaking. Nothing I saw looked dangerous, and most mid range stuff had very low knock values. Biggest difference I noticed was sub spool torque, it'd really take off.
