I've tried dishwasing soap, thinking it might be under the wax... NO....
tried bathroom clean thinking it might be some tough water or soap scum... NO..
Anything else I can try!!

I have two spots on my hood that looked like a water spot, but its a flaw in the black paint under the clearcoat -- the hood will have to be stripped and repainted to fix it.

then use the 3M Imperial hand glaze to get the ink sourounding the spot off. do this about 2 or 3 times and the spot will be gone forever. Use some (hardware store type) denatured alcohol over the area before you start. The ink won't flow in the blemish and stick to the paint if you don't

When I first got my silver A4, there was a stain on the hood that looked like someone had spilled some light colored ice tea under the clearcoat. I took it to the dealer who was willing to repaint, but suggested I wait as it might be moisture trapped under the clearcoat during the shipping process.
After about a month of exposure to sunlight, the stain went away and the paint has looked perfect since. I believe some people also had detailers use a heat lamp on the stain in order to get rid of it. This seemed to be an intermitent problem with silver cars about a year or two ago, but I haven't heard too many complaints of it recently.
If this sounds anything like your problem, it might behoove you to do nothing for a bit and see if it goes away. Just make sure to have the dealer look at it and make a note for your records just in case you do need a repaint in the future.
Good Luck - Rog

I'd rather not have those clown re-paint it. Who knows what they'll mess up. The spots aren't very visible now and I hope they'll clear up in the hot CA sun.
