I would stethescope the crucial parts, to make sure you're not headed towards catastrophe. ;-)

i'm pretty sure my cold "grind" is from my fan clutch. doing EFK in spring...

Default Good deal. Just an fyi I wired mine the following way:

Aux fan +/- power on a relay which routes power from the battery through an inline fuse of course. Works great! I doubt the Aux Fan wiring+ will handle a whole lot of juice, so it's better(peace of mind) to relay it. There are of course many ways to do it, this is just the way I did.
