Default Has anyone purchased/installed the APR 2.7T bipipe?

I have been seriously considering purchasing this, and wanted to get responses from the audiworld public.

I saw this unit at Dubwar (probably one of the reasons I went). It's a nicely manufactured unit, but one thing has me concerned.

The interior of the stock plastic bi-pipe is very smooth, as is the interior of the RS4 bipipe which is aluminum. However the APR's bipipe interior is not smooth. Will this have impact on airflow characteristics? Will it be a negative impact? If it does have a negative impact, can you explain this further?

One thing about the RS4's bipipe is that you would have to change out an array of parts, just to eliminate the TBB, where as APR's solution doesn't.

TIA.

Default If it isn't smooth inside, it will make the air more turbulent, but the real question is...

whether or not turbulent intake air makes a difference in the S4.

That I don't know...

Default EX: 2 exact dimension pipes, 1 smooth, 1 rough = the smoother one flowing more efficiently....

In this situation you have pipes of varying sizes and angels so it almost seems like apples to oranges. Personally, if another company had a smooth set then I would use them.

Get a SAMCO TBB and the problem is solved.

Question: is the factory bipipe attached via hosing to the TB to eliminate the risk of cracking it? Kind of like a flex joint?

Default I've thought about the flex joint thing, but the plastic bipipe is attached to the block with a bolt

I don't know how much vibration, if any occurs.

If it did, the RS4 TBB (which is solid aluminum) connects to the bi-pipe would have a similar problem.

But I think that the whole multiple parts connecting approach might be due to ease of replacement, rather than vibration.

Also, Audi probably saves tons of money between using the rubber TBB and the aluminum one in the RS4. But it wasn't too wise as they are probably spending serious cash on turbo replacment and labor hours that are being waranteed.

Default I do, but I'm not about to leave anything to chance once I get new turbos.

The whole car out of commision thing is a pain in the ***, as well as costing money (use of car while paying loan).

The reinforced TBB is really nice, but if I'm going to keep this car for a long time, I intend to make it extremely reliable.

I'm not concerned about power as much as reliability.

Default for the money though, you'd think that it'd already be extrude hone'd or, at least around the same

smoothness...

Default So you are sure the turbo(s) are gone then?

The last post I read about this made it sound like the the car having "problems" but nothing that confirmed the turbos were dead (ie tons of smoke coming out the exhaust and horrible sounds).
