Has anyone tried tires in size 225/50-17 on stock wheels? If so, any rubbing or other problems? ...
I am thinking about winter tires, and I noticed that TireRack has Pirelli 210 SnowSports in size 225/50-17. Wouldn't that extra height in the tire sidewalls be of benefit in the winter? But will this tire size (on the stock wheels) cause any rubbing problems, etc.?
Thanks in advance for any responses.<p>S4elvis

215/50R17 would be a better fit (closer to stock rolling diameter). Narrower is always better with snow tires, anyway. However, I don't know if fitting 215s on a 7.5" wide rim is wise or not. Given the design of the Avus wheels, I'd worry about scrapage.

You can run as narrow as 205s on 7.5 wheel. My 17s for my Corrado have 205/40
Now the sidewall is narrow as hell, but the tire isn't "pulled". Sometimes it depends on brand also. Some brands are more narrow than others in the size tire size. Unfortunetly, I have been through some rubber in my lifetime.
