Have many had success tuning their Bose "EQ" to get more bass? Want to try but wonderng if worth it

Dumb question answered...
I read that the bass, mid-bass, and treble should be tuned to the flat setting and adjusted to suit when listening to the radio or cassettes.
The EQ should be tuned (to your own listening taste) with a (reference) CD of your choice, depedning on your listening preference.
