#7 should be the last step if you're not waxing.
It's a glaze and has no polishing agents. It's primarily used to fill gaps.
An interesting bit of info I learned at the Meguiar's clinic in Del Mar, wax does not play well with photographs.
Every car we did for photo work had no wax. Just a hand rub with #7. Better for the camera eye.

Also, having the lights on the car gives a nice solid base for even wet sanding and polishing.

Cost is about $40 or so.
It is the same material as the clear bra but much thicker.
I applied to my stock headlights when I first bought the car and eventually sold them a few years later when I went to e-codes.
They were in great condition.

Help! What on earth did I do wrong?
I used 400, 600, and 1500, lots of water, took my time, then #7 polishing compound in a drill with a buffer. Did I sand too hard? I was neither bearing down nor being ultra-gentle, just sorta what felt right.
