Heel Toe shifting advice please

Heel Toe shifting advice please
OK, I've been to school (Skip Barber, twice) and have a pair of Pilotis and I'm working on perfecting my heel toe technique.
It seems like the pedals are just a tad too far apart to do it well without a lot of concentration. My feet are fairly narrow (size 8.5).
Question: should I get aftermarket pedals to narrow the gap? Or is that just a crutch for poor technique and I should work on it more?

I find allot of driving shoes to narrow and slippery (when new) for track days
I usually use my street shoes which are wider. Also I find using the shoes that you most frequently use to drive the car help keep everything cinsistant. I use my Cole Hahn moc's for track events and most of my daily driving. Nice wide sole and I don't have to adjust for the difference in sole thickness when I hit the track. Most people would add an extra flap to the gas pedal to assist them. We would also sand the bottoms of our booties with 80 grit.

When I searched (m)
there wasn't a lot of info on these boards, but Piloti is a credible company that's been around a while and several people have them. I got the Monaco - it's not really a "racing shoe", but the sole wraps up around the outside edge of the right foot which makes for a more consistent grab of the edge of the go pedal.

Piloti web site

I installed these Sparco's & they've made heel toe shifting easier.
They're not a slippery as you might think. It was my main concern prior to buying them but haven't had any problems w/ my feet slipping on the carbon fiber. The little "ear" on the left of the gas pedal makes it really easy to tap it as you step on the brake. I think I paid ~$40.

I did it with cheapo Tenzo pedal covers so didn't need to drill but it IS the best solution...
My feet are about that size and heel and toeing was damn near impossible. I ended up JUST using the Tenzo throttle pedal and spray painted it black and it bridged the gap nicely and didn't require any permanent modding (leased car) and wasn't noticeable.
