1). Passport 8500 w/Laser Shifter (all hard-wired) $1,300 installed. (does it cost $700 to hardwired it in? sounds very high).
2). V1 w/concealed controller and hard-wired.
3). Passport SR7 installed.
which would be the best for radar/laser protection? Doesnt (1). seem very high in price?
Thanks.

I can say I like it. Saved $100 buy not buying the valentine 1, and I feel it has saved my a good share of times.
You can obviously not defeat the cop laser, but the Ka and K bands are very sensitive on my 8500. Hardwiring should cost very little. Escort offers a special smart hardwire setup, where you can set up a little box somewhere on your dash to mute etc.
Hardwiring should cost no more than $100-$150 tops. I have no idea how the hell they can even begin to charge you $700. I say go for the 8500.
BTW... there is a new Passport 8500 x50, which just came out. If you search the archives you will find a post I made a day or two ago.

Once you've had the arrows, you'll never go back to not having them.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1506532.phtml">My V1 story</a></li></ul>
