Default Help; Disconnected Battery --> Car won't start

Okay, I need help here... Here's the situation; I'm currently trying to install the DICE kit in my car. However, I know I would need the radio code before hand since I would be disconnecting the battery.

So, to test and make sure the code I have is the right one before starting the actual install, I just simply disconnected the battery for 60 seconds, then reconnected it...

Good news; the code I have is correct

Bad news; car won't start at all

Again, all I did was disconnect the battery, and reconnected it 60 seconds later. Nothing else. Now I'm stuck and the car won't start. Please, can anyone help me?

Default **shrug** i would think that if the starter is not fully turning over then it's a weak battery...

try jumping it?

but, if the starter is fully turning over but the engine won't fire up then it's another problem and i probably will be of no assistance good luck though

Default Check your connection on the battery. You shouldn't be able to wiggle it around.

Bummer dude..... I did my DICE install without unhooking the battery. There really isn't any need to do it :/

Default Found the problem!...

My car has the APR software with w/EMCS; I have the anti-theft program installed. So when I disconnected the battery, it triggered the anti-theft lock on the ECU which prevented me from starting the car. I entered my code and the car started right up.

I didn't realize that disconnecting the battery would trigger it, I thought it could only be activated manually. Oh well, thats a load off my back. Now, to continue with my install

Default To make your install easier, add a connector to the DICE ground wire

and just attach it beneath the ground on the back of the radio. The DICE ground wires are really fragile and will break if you just wrap the wire around a screw. Good luck!

Default Already ahead of you...

picked up the connectors last night at radioshack. The install is now done.

However, the radio isn't displaying the artist/song text info. It did on my BMW. Does the S4 radio not support the DICE text display???

Default There are two methods to using the DICE kit

In the instructions, it had two ways to flip the toggle switches ont he box. One method gives full control of the ipod through the head unit. That means that all information is displayed on the head unit and you browse/select music with the CD changer controls. There is no usability with the ipod with you go this route so it's nice if you just plan on having the ipod somewhere out of sight.

If you want to browser/select songs using the ipod, then nothing will be displayed on the head unit. this is the way I went as I find it way to cumbersome to try and find songs with the head unit. There is no way to be able to display song info and still browse songs using the ipod. If you plan on keeping the ipod in sight, then the way you have it setup now is the way to go.

There are two white small toggle switches on the DICE box, and to be able to flip them, you need to separate the box to get at them.

Default I didn't mess w/any of the toggle switches...

They're all set to OFF since that's how they came from DICE. They're all set to off on my BMW too, yet I have artist/song info text displayed in the 3er, but not my S4. I have control of the ipod through the CD changer controls in both cars.

I think I may have to contact DICE
