Default this evenings saga: no joy using contact cleaner, same old issue, but.......

APR, dealership (yeah, you read that right, dealership) and my tech are involved and all are trying to help me out.
I'll know a little more after the tech VAG's the ecu, checks charging system and changes cruise control stalk. If everything checks out ok and i still have a problem, it could very well be the ecu itself.

Default Thanks again. :) --->

I was just wondering why an old fashioned shunt connected voltmeter wouldn't have been accurate enough for Low-Normal-High indication. I guess, not for Audi.

Default it was worth a try, at least if i have to pull the ecu out to exchange the chip into a new ....

ecu, i will always have the stock ecu to fall back on, so no down time with the car. (just stock performance)
it really pays to have a second (spare) ecu.

Default i forwarded this thread to my tech.

if he reads it and contacts you, cool.
Please understand that a dealership that "works" with a customer, is hard to come by. AoA trolls these boards and good dealerships and their customer's can get burned when certain info is made very public.
Please don't be insulted, but your newness to A/W
is keeping me from forwarding the name of the dealership and the name of the tech at this time.

Default this is getting wierder..............

turn ignition to run position this morning, no c/e or epc lights, after ~3 seconds, get c/e & epc lights. engage starter, car fires right up.
let car idle for a good 5 minutes while i bring in the empty garbage pail and b/s with my neighbor.
attempt to access program 1 and 2 through the cruise control stalk and it works on the first try.
drive to work, get hung up at a long red traffic light and i am still able to access the programs.
i really think the car knows that it's going for a diagnostic check-up tomorrow.

Default Broken record: ;-) --->

About a year ago, an Audi master tech at my dealership told me about a case, almost identical to yours. He cleaned the ECU connections repeatedly with regular contact cleaner, but this only extended the periods between malfunctions. Finally, he used some STABILANT 22A, VW/Audi part number ZVW 186 001. This is a contact enhancer, to be used on dry contacts after cleaning. It's available only through dealerships. He said, that fixed the malfunctions permanently.

Good Luck. ;-)
