I've been burning about a quart of oil every 1200 miles in my S4. I have 12k miles on it. The Dealer says AUDI thinks this is within the normal range of oil consumption and just asked me to keep an eye on it. I have heard from 2 other S4 owners that that is their rate of consumption also. Has anyone else experienced this? It seems rather excessive to me....Any advise before I start sending AUDI USA letters??...I really love my car but ... got the S4 blues.....Tony...

but it doesn't seem like all that big a deal.
I get worried when an airplane I'm flying doesn't burn a quart every few hours. (probably a totally irrelevant comparison as they're such different beasts)

I've owned several BMWs, and no two showed the same oil consumption. The worst was my '84 633csi, which used a quart every 800 miles, from the day it was new to the day I sold it ten years later. Other than a slight increase in operating expense, there were no ill effects!

miles on it. seemed excessive to me, but Audi claims it is well within their specs. I wouldn't worry about it, I've had one other car burn alot more oil and I put close to 180,000 on the car.
