Default HELP - doing TBA, after hitting GO, get ERROR in right box (more)

Was swapping ECU's. When putting in the "new" one, the larger connector was a little harder to slide the locking bar into final position, and when I ran the TBA I ended up with the ERROR display. Disconnect and re-connect the new ECU, try again, same result. When I check for fault codes, I get some sort of TBA not completed type of error code (sorry - didn't write it down). Does not go away with CLEAR CODES.

Pulled out the ECU, looked at the pins on it and the two connectors. ECU pins are all straight, connectors look OK as best as I can tell.

Put back stock ECU, no fault codes, and guess I should have left well enough alone. But I tried to run a TBA on it, and it too came up with ERROR, and it too now has the same fault code. Driving it with stock ECU, as that was the CPU with the last successful TBA.

Any and all help welcomed! TIA

Default There are several conditions which need to be met for a proper TBA...

Good battery strentgh (voltage requirement)
Not too hot
Not too cold (I think)

I'm not sure if there are other requirements or not...

Default thanks, will try again when I have the coolant a little bit warmer

5C = 41F, pretty damn close.

I am SO hoping this is it (and not Ed's potential cause).

Default Yeah. I've found that if it errors out, start the car and let it idle for a few minutes.

Then shut it down and try the TBA again.

Default I had that happen to me once. Turned out to be a bad PROM.

I just got a new one and was fine. Take it back to where you bought it and ask them to give you a new one.
