Default Help with error doing throttle adaptation with VAG-COM...

I got the following error:

What does this mean? I heard the engine clicking for a while before this showed up.

Default Clicking is normal when doing throttle adapt.

Go check for error codes, and try the throttle adapt again. You might need to "power cycle" your car tho - (key off, back on again) - I've had throttle adapt fail a few times before, and cycling the ignition (and clearing the "throttle adapt failed" DTC) made it all better.

Post to the VAG-COM mailing list / message board if you want Uwe's response

Default That worked, but...

...how do you know when it's finished? I let it run for about 2 minutes and it just seemed to be doing the same thing over and over again, so I stopped it.

Default uh, it should stop after about 7s and say "ADP OK"

(when you click switch to basic settings)

That's weird. Mine just keeps going and going, switching from "ADP Running" to "ADP OK" to "ADP Running" to "ADP OK" etc. etc. etc. I'll try it again tomorrow when the engine's cold.

Default I think you've got "flaky comms".

Open a session with your ECU and just let the session run on the Open Controller screen. Look in the Comm Staus box in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. IC=1 should stay at 1. If it increments, you need to take care of your flaky comms problem. Click on the link..

VAG-COM FAQ: Flaky Comms

Default The way to get my attention to a thread here is to

do what DonS4 did, go to the VAG-COM Discussion Group and post a link there -- or send a link to me directly.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time to keep up with all of the boards here. For a while I was doing well with the 2nd Gen A4 board (but traffic there was slow at first).
