the black plastic box is located. But I just have the Tip chip by itself, I do not have the whole ECU. How do I install the chip? (I cannot open the ECU metal box). And I installed the Engine ECU but now the check engine light came on. Is this normal? Shoud I worry about it?

when you removed the stock ecu, you generated a fault code which can easily be erased using a vag-com. this happens everytime you remove the ecu. as for the tip chip: what you should do is remove the TCU(tiptronic control unit) and have someone who knows what they are doing socket it in the TCU for you. i took my car to my local dealer and had them open the area where the TCU is located.. i then disconnected my TCU and sent it into AWE where they socketed it for me and sent it back. once i got the new TCU i connected it to the car and then and had the local dealer sealed it up for me.

OK for the tip: get to ur black box and bend the little metal tips that hold the box shut, unhook the top wires thing too. (all of metal hooks broke no big deal put tape on it.) then remove the chip just like the engine. I ve never had the engine check come on after i changed from stock to chipped. make sure its on the right way, if u put on the engine chip the wrong way the car wont start, and if u put the tip chip in wrong, on ur comp screen in the dash u wont see all the gears its just gonna be blank. hopefully this helps
